In your country, are there charity events to raise money for a good cause? Have you ever taken part in one? What did you do? How much money did you raise?

b

You’re going to read a blog by radio presenter Jess Harlow, who has taken part in several charity challenges. First, read the introduction and answer the questions.

The desert challenge

Radio presenter Jess Harlow has never been afraid of a charity challenge. She has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and she has cycled 1,800 kilometres from Lisbon, in Portugal, to Rome, in Italy, for the charity Water for All, which helps people without clean drinking water. Now she has decided to leave the cool mountains and roads of Europe to take part in a desert challenge, a 250-mile walk, bike and sand-buggy journey across the Sahara, the biggest hot desert in the world. During the challenge, Jess is writing a blog.
1 What has Jess done for charity before?
